Summer Intern - Testing Technician

Panhandle Geotechnical & Environmental, a member of the MCS Family of Companies is searching for a summer intern as a testing technician for our Scottsbluff, Nebraska office. The company is a full-service environmental consulting firm with extensive experience conducting environmental consulting solutions, environmental investigations, underground storage tank investigations and remediation geotechnical investigations, and material testing solutions (through our on-site AASHTO-certified lab).

We are currently seeking a motivated individual with a strong interest in environmental and engineering projects, with a willingness to be a strong team player. Work will also include field-based testing and data collection for geotechnical investigations. Candidates will work with senior leaders to develop and execute solutions for clients’ needs. The job requires strong technical capabilities and excellent writing, communication and analytical skills. We are looking for an intern willing to learn about future opportunities in environmental and engineering areas.

Duties will include but not limited to assuring that the appropriate construction is completed in compliance with plans, standards, specifications, special requirements, codes and regulations. Uses excellent customer service skills, establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other employees, contractors, clients and all members of the general public. Performs routine semi-skilled and technical material testing, collection and observation work for a variety of projects, including but not limited to transportation, water/wastewater, development, and building construction/rehabilitation. Resolves conflicts within scope of authority. Compiles information and prepares material testing reports as required. Performs work in accordance with safety policies and procedures. Maintains a variety of detailed logs and records related to employees, work assignments and testing activities. Performs sampling and testing services as needed.  A high school diploma or GED required.

Environmental Technician/Driller

The MCS Family of Companies is searching for a full-time environmental technician/driller/driver for our office in Scottsbluff, Nebr.  The company is a full-service environmental consulting firm with extensive experience conducting environmental site assessments, remedial design, waste management, and remedial actions for both public and private entities.

We are currently seeking a motivated field technician with a willingness to be a strong team player. The successful candidate will perform a wide variety of environmental work on sites across Nebraska, Wyoming and Colorado. Work includes installation of wells, operating drilling equipment, and commercial driving.  Work will also include field-based testing and data collection for geotechnical investigations. A love for the outdoors, the ability to diagnose mechanical issues, and a highly detailed recordkeeping process is crucial.

Duties will include but not limited to helping on a drill rig, able to lift and carry 75-pound augers and bags, moving drums weighing almost 500 pounds. The successful candidate will be working with hazardous and non-hazardous waste. May have to operate a shovel for extended periods. Strong analytical/organizational skills and excellent communication skills are required.

Must be willing to work flexible hours and travel on an on-call basis, as this position will travel approximately two weeks a month within the service area.

A valid driver’s license with Class A CDL and an acceptable driving record for company vehicles is required.  With the ability to acquire N (Tank Vehicle) and H (Hazmat) endorsements within 30 days of employment.  A pre-employment drug screen is required and will be subject to random drug screens.
